A Chara

Based in South West Belfast, in the parishes of St Anne's and Our Lady Queen of Peace, Eire Og Doire Achaidh CLG is a County Antrim Football and Hurling club with teams at all underage levels from Under 6 up to Minor level. The senior footballers and hurlers play at All County Senior level and the reserves play in the South Antrim league. There is a thriving Youth Development programme, which has produced successful teams at Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 in recent years and has also contributed several Under 16 and Minor County footballers and hurlers. The two senior teams have also recently won a Junior Football Championship in 2001 and the Martin Cup in 2005 and 2007, having also been beaten finalists in 2002. In 2006 Eire Og won an Irish News GAA Highly Commended Club of the Year Award in the City Section, and the following year went one better, winning the 2007 City Club of the Year.

2007 marked Eire Og's 75th anniversary. A number of special events were organised throughout the year to celebrate this landmark, culminating in a gala dinner on November 17th at the Balmoral Hotel with GAA President, Nicky Brennan, as guest of honour. Dr John McSparran, County Chairman, also guested, as did Matt Fitzpatrick, Irish News journalist and former Og.
